The Timaru Harrier Club Inc was formed in 1925 and is based in Timaru. Runs are held every weekend during the winter (March through to October) from various locations throughout the South Canterbury area.
We cater for all levels and ages of runners and walkers. The club has around 50 active members - consisting of competitive runners, social runners, joggers and social walkers.
All visitors and prospective members (runners and walkers) are very welcome to participate in any club run.

| 2009 Round the Gorges Relay, Aorangi Park |
| Well done to all those members that took part in this year's relay. Both teams ran well in their grades, with the No.1 Team winning the B Grade & the No.2 team finishing 4th in the D Grade |

| For the No.1 team, Andrew Jamieson got the team off to a good start with a 2 minute lead (31:18 for the hilly 8.4km lap - 4th fastest time overall for the lap) over the other 2 teams in the B Grade. Keegan Pullar ran a superb 8.3km in 29:04 to record the fastest lap time overall for the second lap and extended the teams lead to 7 minutes. The 2nd placed Christchurch Avon ran well over the next 2 laps and trailed by only 8 seconds at the changeover at Cave (Peter Potter 30:50 - 7.1km, Lap 3 & Ben Wreford 45:43 - 10.8km, Lap 4) |
| Paul Lynch (25:40 - 6.0km, Lap 5) ran the fastest lap for Masters Men (4th fastest lap time overall for lap 5) to have a narrow 4 second lead. Christchurch Avon finally managed to take the lead on lap 6, with Craig Hayman (30:36 - 7.7km, lap 6) running the 2nd fastest lap time for Masters Men to keep the team in touch - only 37 seconds of the lead |
| Dean McAlister also ran the 2nd fastest lap for Masters Men (3rd fastest lap time overall) for the 7.6km lap 7 up the Taiko zigzag and closed the gap to 26 seconds. Jesse Gibbs ran the last lap for the team (lap 8 - 9.3km 33:24, 2nd fastest lap time for M19 & 5th fastest overall) and ran a well judged lap to catch the Christchurch Avon team approx 1km from the finish to claim 1st place in the grade |

| The No.2 team of Russell McKenzie, Mario Oostendorp, Andrea Wreford, John Souter, Judy Hay, Toni Smith, David Wreford & Nicola Rooney all ran well for the team and finished in 4th place, with Andrea running the fastest lap time overall for Masters Women 50 |

| Moro Marathon Dunedin |
| Toni Smith ran the good time of 3 hours 11 minutes 5 seconds to finish 2nd Masters Women in the Marathon. In the Half Marathon Jesse Gibbs ran 1:24:29 to finish 14th overall, with Paul Lynch running 1:37:38 & Tony Cunningham running his best time of 1:44:58 in a field of over 1200 finishers |

| New Zealand Road Race Championships, Dunedin |
| Congratulations to Sam Wreford - for his 2nd place in the Senior Mens 10km race at the New Zealand Road Championships held 5th September in Dunedin |
| Sam ran a great race to record a time of 30 minutes 11 seconds - just 8 seconds behind the winner Kim Hogarth (Athletics Nelson) and led the Canterbury team to the Men's Teams race title |
| Ex-club member Myrtle Rough (now running for Hill City in Dunedin) also won her race - Masters Women 65 in a time of 24:11 for the 5km race |

| Squire Cup, Fairview |
| This year's Squire Cup races were held in pleasant sunny conditions on the Fairview Course, hosted by Alister Squire and his family, also present were Annthea Copland (Alister's sister) & her husband Watt; as well as Dan Doyle (owner of the majority of the land the races are run over) |
| It was very pleasing to have the Squire Family still involved in the event, as they have been ever since it was first held in 1937 over the Squire family farm and surrounding area in Maungati, to the current course in Fairview |
| Congratulations to Dean McAlister for his strong running on the hilly 10km course to record his first win in the Squire Cup |
| Well done to Nicola Rooney (Jubilee Cup - Senior & Masters Womens 5km race), Cameron Foster (Maungati Residents Cup - Under 16 Boys 3km), Cody Hill (Silverstream Challenge Trophy - Under 14 Boys 3km), Lucy Holland-Stack (Traillayers Cup - Under 14 & Under 12 Girls 3km) and Carl Dieudonne (AT Squire Trophy/Allnutt Family Trohpy - Under 12 Boys 3km) for winning their respective races |
